It happens every time. And this is not about vacation... well, not really. There is a stigma on the surface of the human soul. Something that causes most of us to act contrary to what life presents.
I remember my parents and my grandparents often quoting me the following phrase, "when the going gets tough, the tough get going." And like myself, most of you just read that and nodded in agreement. And yet I will agree only to a point. You see, life works in waves. This is no secret to any of us. Yet, often we fail to admit that if life works in waves then so must the Life Giver. God himself breathes a rhythm into our world. We have good times. We have bad times. We have times of ease and rest, and times of pain and struggle. And all of it moves and breathes within God's control.
But why does God give us times of ease? Is it to rest? Perhaps at times. But sometimes we need to take the wind at our backs as an opportunity to move forward at a relentless pace. In ministry, we take times of relative quiet and peace and we sit back, don't we? It's not until the feeling of impending doom comes upon us that we pick up the pace and lean into the wind.
Let me encourage you today to take notice of the direction of the wind in your life. Is in your face? Or is at your back? If it's in your face what do you need to do? Lean in and push forward! But if the wind is at your back, if you're experiencing an easy time in life and ministry right now, then what do you do? Yes, it could be that God is providing a time of rest for you. But never equate ease with rest. Maybe God is giving you a tailwind so that you can run with the wind. Maybe today, you're supposed to make progress in your life and your ministry like you've never dreamed.
Don't miss out. God is always working. God is always moving. Your time of ease in life and ministry is most likely because God is doing something! Get up, and go with Him! The results could be amazing!
